No. 12 Coffeyville drops 'Hound men

COFFEYVILLE -- Coffeyville, the No. 12-ranked team in NJCAA Division I, held Fort Scott Community College's men to the fourth-lowest point total since the advent of the shot-clock era in a 71-38 Jayhawk Conference-Eastern Division contest here Saturday night.

Fort Scott (1-2 East, 6-7 overall) trailed 45-16 at the half.

Ray Ray Chase was the only Greyhound in double figures scoring with 10 points. He also grabbed 11 rebounds.

Travis Britt led Coffeyville (1-0, 12-1) with 19 points. Earl Peterson added 14 and Carl Crawford and Montel James each scored 10.

Fort Scott shot 28 percent from the floor, making 13 of 47 field-goal attempts. Coffeyville shot 34 percent on 24 of 71 and held a 48-42 rebounding advantage.

According to Coffeyville statistics, the Red Ravens scored 32 points off 29 Fort Scott turnovers.

The school record for fewest points in a game with a shot clock was set against Coffeyville a little over 23 months ago when the Red Ravens held the Greyhounds to 30 points on Jan. 29, 2011.

Fort Scott will play its first home game since Nov. 20 when it faces Neosho County at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night at Arnold Arena.

NOTES -- Four players are no longer on the roster but one new player has joined the team. Kevin House, Chekeil Wright, Devin McBride and Jason Stoneking are no longer listed on the Greyhound roster. The newcomer is Wes Brantley, a 6' 2" freshman from Arkansas City. He scored 4 points and had 4 rebounds in his season debut Saturday night....
