JV tennis 3rd at Chanute
CHANUTE -- The Fort Scott High School junior varsity tennis team finished third out of eight teams at a tournament here Monday. Independence came in first followed by Chanute.
Kandice Rost and Jasmine Davis finished second in No. 1 doubles. They beat Lauren Sullivan/Sam Cicero of Pittsburg, 6-4, and shut out Chanute's Sarah Methvin/Haley Markham. They lost in the finals to Independence's Kaeli Matthews/Shaeli Matthews, 6-0.
Aubin Duff was fourth in No. 1 singles. She beat Candance Carr of Labette County, 6-4, and lost to Jaymi Lawrence of Chanute and Olivia Laidler of Pittsburg, both 6-2.
Char Hutchison and Emmah Reeves placed fourth in No. 2 doubles. They defeated Lyndsey Brothers/Jana Diefenbach of Labette County, 6-3, lost to Indy's Calisse Papen/Wendy Mejia in a tie-breaker, 6-5 (7-2), and Parsons' Morgan Stevens/Nikita Ghandi, 6-2.
Kristian Engle placed seventh in No. 2 singles. She lost to Kasi Dee Cox of Independence in the first round, 6-0. She fell to Emily Curlee of Pittsburg, 6-2, and beat Chyanne Vaughn of Iola, 6-3.
The final action for the Tiger JV this season was Tuesday against Nevada in a varsity/junior varsity dual. Results from that will be included in Thursday's edition.
