Uniontown cross country opens season

BURLINGTON, Kan. -- Uniontown High School opened its cross-country season here Thursday, taking part in the Burlington Invitational. Three runners participated for the Eagles.

Junior Kelli Wilkinson finished in 16th place in the four-kilometer girls' varsity race with a time of 19 minutes, 11 seconds. Sophomore Jonathan Wheeler placed 31st in the 5K boys' varsity run in 22:38. And Rachel Demoss, a first-year sophomore, finished fifth in the 3,200-meter girls' junior varsity race in 14:39.

"All three runners did a great job, especially for this being their first meet of the season," Uniontown head coach Sabrina Wilkinson said.

The Eagles will be at Fort Scott Thursday.
