Convenient Care hours to be extended soon
Starting Tuesday, Sept. 4, Mercy Convenient Care will offer expanded hours for patients seeking non-emergent health care services.
The Mercy Convenient Care at 1624 S. National will open at 7 a.m. and close at 3 p.m.
Hours at the Mercy Convenient Care hospital main campus location will remain the same: Monday through Friday 3:30-11 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m.-9 p.m.
"We have designed these expanded hours with patient access in mind," Mercy Clinic Director Annamarie Holmes said in a news release. "Our early morning hours make it possible to see a provider before work or school."
Mercy Convenient Care is a quick alternative to the emergency room when symptoms are not life threatening. Practitioners at convenient care can treat minor injuries and ailments such as sore throats, fevers, flu, sprains, strains, fractures, earaches, mild abdominal pain, lacerations and drug screenings.
"The extended hours may also assist our local business community with access to occupational medicine service," Holmes added in the release. "This maybe especially helpful for pre-employment screenings, department of transportation physicals, return to work evaluations and other services for employers."
Both of Mercy's convenient care locations are equipped with electronic medical records, so a patient's medical history, including allergies and current medications, is accessible to the provider. This feature helps expedite care, the release said.
