Gander attends leadership institute

J. Scott Gander, Fort Scott, a Modern Woodmen of America managing partner, recently attended the Modern Woodmen Leadership Career Institute, held at the firm's home office in Rock Island, Ill.

Modern Woodmen's top managers are invited to attend the event where speakers teach those attending to become better leaders, improve results in their regions and inspire those with whom they work, a news release said.

Speakers included Bob Davies, author, trainer and coach; Mike White, president and CEO of Virginia Asset Management LLC; Grey Giovanine, basketball coach of Augustana College; and Alan Williams, author of "Walk-On" and founder of Teammates First.

Participants also had a chance to exchange best management practices with more than 100 other leaders.

Founded in 1883, Modern Woodmen is a fraternal financial services organization that offers financial products and fraternal member benefits to people and families nationwide, the release said.
