IVAN HOWARD BOLINGER
Ivan Howard Bolinger, age 91, a former resident of Uniontown, Kan., and more recently of Olathe, Kan., died Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at his home in Olathe.
He was born Feb. 22, 1921, in Redfield, Kan., the son of Glen E. Bolinger and Minnie I. Steele Bolinger. Ivan graduated from Uniontown High School. He later served as a pharmacist's mate with the United States Navy during World War II when he was stationed in Guam.
He married Shirley Cowan on March 10, 1946, in Denver, Colo. She preceded him in death on Dec. 17, 1999.
In his earlier years, Ivan operated area filling stations and a fuel delivery service. He also farmed and raised hogs. He later worked as a rural mail carrier in the Uniontown area for many years. He was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Uniontown.
Survivors include his daughter, Karen Bolinger, of Olathe, Kan.; a brother Glen Bolinger Jr., also of Olathe. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Kurt Bolinger; a brother, Russell Bolinger and a sister Lois Harms.
Rev. Marty DeWitt will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the Uniontown Cemetery.
