County amends burn ban

Wednesday, July 11, 2012

County officials have amended the Bourbon County burn ban, which prohibits all open burning and barbecue grills indefinitely, to allow covered grills.

Officials instituted the burn ban on June 29, but allowed grilling and fireworks only through July 5 for the Independence Day holiday.

County commissioners approved the amended resolution with the exception of covered grills on Friday, county commission minutes said.

Commissioners also approved joining the 2012 Neighborhood Revitalization Plan through the city of Fort Scott.
