Donald C. Boone, 87, of Mulberry, died at 5:10 a.m. Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at his home.

Boone was born Jan. 3, 1925, at Fort Scott, Kan., the son of Chester R. and Wauneta M. Wilcox Boone.

Don was a retired coal miner. He was raised in Fort Scott, Stotesbury, Mo., and Kentucky. He had been a resident of Mulberry since 1972.

He married Thelma Lowe on March 2, 1947, at Arma, Kan. Thelma survives at the home.

He was a member of the Mulberry United Presbyterian Church and the United Mine Workers of America.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma; two daughters, Janice (Ronald) Crays of Humboldt, Kan., and Susan Voorhees of Arma; a son, Donald Boone of Mulberry; a brother, Neil Boone of Bardstown, Ky.; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Gerald, Norman and Steven Boone, and a grandchild, Daniel Boone.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2012, at the Bedene Funeral Home, Arma, with the Rev. Ronald Crays officiating. Mr. Boone will be cremated following the memorial services. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date at the Clarksburg Cemetery in rural Fort Scott.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to service time on Friday at the Bedene Chapel.
