Piano students perform in spring recital
Students of Mrs. Jennie Wood -- Codee Budd, Destiny Garcia, Drake Garcia, Jenna Holt, Myranda Pridey and Laree Smith -- performed their piano recital pieces May 21 at the Hammond, Kan., United Methodist Church before an audience of parents, grandparents, other relatives and friends.
Guest performers from Overland Park, Kan., were Melody (Wood) Richardson and daughter Alexandra playing a duet of "Guide Me, O Though Great Jehovah," and Alexandra soloing on "Twilight Tapestry."
Other guests were Hunter, Callie and Tanner Holt singing "The Lollipop Tree" with their sister Jenna accompanied by their mother Christa Holt.
The Rev. Kenneth Wood led the audience in singing "America," followed by a prayer.
Codee Budd played "Song of the Birds," "Here I Am to Worship," "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms" and "Londonderry Air."
Destiny Garcia played "The Persian Market," "Ode to Joy," "When the Saints Go Marching In" and "Star Wars."
Jenna Holt played "Joseph, Son of an Ancient King," and the "Chariot Race."
Myranda Pridey played "Blue Bonnets in the Breeze," "Ballade," "One Day," "In the Sweet By and By" and ended the program playing "Pomp and Circumstance."
Laree played "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands," "Blue Bird Waltz," "Oh, How I Love Jesus" and "A Riddle" (Tumbalalaika).
Everyone stayed afterward to visit, take pictures and make their own ice cream sundaes. The students' practice paid off for a delightful musical evening.
Thank you to all who had a part playing and singing and those helping in other ways.
