Post 25 at 4-0 following sweep

Fort Scott American Legion Post 25 improved to 4-0 on the season with a sweep of Garnett Post 48 in a doubleheader at Ty Cullor Field Thursday evening.
Post 25 improved to 4-0. Fort Scott swept Chanute Post 170 in the season opener at Ty Cullor Tuesday night, 4-2 and 14-4.
Both of Thursday night's games went just five innings because Garnett had just nine players available. Normally, the first game of a doubleheader is scheduled for seven.

Fort Scott took advantage of 10 Garnett errors in the twinbill, 6 in the first game alone. None of Post 25's runs in the first game were earned.
Fort Scott, meanwhile, turned two double plays, including an unassisted twin killing by shortstop Jake Durossette to end the top of the fourth inning of the opener. Pitcher Mason Knopp allowed only 2 hits, walked 5 and struck out 4.
Durossette was the pivot man on Post 25's first twinbill, a 6-3 play to end the first. Knopp escaped a bases-loaded jam in the third with back-to-back strikeouts and a fly ball to right to end the inning.
Knopp walked the bases loaded with 2 out in the top of the fourth but got a line drive to Durossette to end the frame. Knopp allowed a leadoff walk in the fifth but got the final three batters he faced on a pop-up, a grounder to third and a fly out.
Fort Scott had the bases loaded with one out in the top of the first but was unable to score. Catcher Chase Brown walked to lead off the fifth and Chase Howser went in as a courtesy runner. Clayton Hixon singled up the middle and Justin Uhler bunted the runners over. Durossette grounded back to the pitcher, who made a wild throw that allowed Howser to score.
Benjamin Labbe led off the third with a walk. Knopp singled up the middle and both runners moved up on a passed ball. Hixon reached on a one-out error, which scored Labbe. Knopp scored on the back end of a double steal and Hixon scored on another error on a Durossette grounder.
Knopp, Hixon, Zach Denton, Luke Brown, and Dustin Stewart had Fort Scott's hits in the opener.
Wyatt Reehl went the distance in the second game, allowing an unearned run in 4 hits and 4 walks with 4 strikeouts. Post 25 committed only 1 error while Garnett had 4 more charged.
Chase Brown walked to lead off the second and Jacob Payne singled to left. Howser was hit by a pitch and Uhler singled on Brown and Payne. Uhler scored on a fielder's choice to make it 3-0.
Labbe and Knopp led off the third with back-to-back singles. C.Brown bunted them over. Labbe scored on Payne's groundout and Knopp scored when Howser reached on an error. Uhler singled to keep the inning going and Howser scored when Garnett's center fielder dropped Durossette's fly ball.
Uhler was 2 for 2 in the second game for Post 25.
