MADGELENE MARIE ROBERTS
Madgelene Marie Roberts, 85, resident of Medicalodges of Fort Scott, Kan., died Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Mo.
She was born March 22, 1927, in Blackwell, Okla., the daughter of Lee Stevens and Viola Mae Puckett Stevens.
She married Justin Earl Roberts on July 14, 1944, in Las Vegas, Nev. He preceded her in death on July 28, 2005.
Madgelene lived most of her life in Wichita, Kan., before moving to Fort Scott in 2008 due to health reasons. She enjoyed shopping, art, animals and spending time with her family. She loved music and was an avid guitar player beginning at age 19. She attended Christ's Church in Fort Scott.
Survivors include five daughters, Joyce Elmarry, Wichita, Kan., Nancy Gressett and husband Don, Decatur, Miss., Earlene Beshears, Wichita, Kan., Melanie Grissom and husband Greg, Hesston, Kan., and Amanda Lucus and husband Eric, Fort Scott; one son, Justin Paul Roberts, Parsons, Kan.; two sisters, Wanda Ziez, Coon Rapids, Minn., and Corrine Cooper, Great Bend, Kan.; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Dolores Kaha; a brother, Paul Stevens; a sister, Lorrine Mitchell and seven grandchildren as well as her parents.
Pastor Brian Studer will conduct services at 2 p.m. Friday, May 25, in the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the West Plains cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at the Cheney Witt Chapel.
