FSCC presents Community Appreciation Day

Tuesday, April 24, 2012

Fort Scott Community College is gearing up for its fourth Annual Community Appreciation Day set for noon-2 p.m. Saturday on the FSCC campus, 2108 S. Horton.

Most of the events will be held in the parking lot between Bailey Hall and the Danny and Willa Ellis Family Fine Arts Center. Other activities will take place inside the Danny and Willa Ellis Family Fine Arts Center.

Designed to thank the community for its support of FSCC, the event involves opening up the campus to the community, letting them see the college's facilities, giving them the opportunity to meet many staff members and have fun.

More than 400 people attended Community Appreciation Day last year and organizers are hoping for a larger crowd this year.

The day will begin with a T-shirt giveaway to the first 200 people. Those in attendance will be able to enjoy free hot dogs, chips and water throughout the day.

Many events will be available for kids including an inflatable bouncy house, balloons, face painting, horse rides, contests by the FSCC men's and women's basketball teams, the FSCC volleyball team and the FSCC football team. Classes include storybook time and Crafts and Zumba.

Community Appreciation Day is just one event FSCC hosts for the community in April, which is National Community College Month. Other events are the Women's Appreciation Luncheon, which is today, the FSCC Jazz Band Concert, FSCC Talent Show and FSCC's Scholarship Auction set for Saturday.
