Order of the Eastern Star meets

Bronson Chapter No. 65 Order of the Eastern Star met April 11 with 13 members present. Worthy Matron Linda Neville opened in form.

Linda Neville and Worthy Patron presided in the east. Worthy Matron read a story by Margery Williams from "The Velveteen Rabbit" called "Real."

Sonia Jones was installed as Electa. The women and men shared the story of the hat or cap they decorated and the Worthy Matron shared some history of the Easter bonnet and the Easter parade. Then she led the group in a fun parade called Peter Cottontail.

Winners of the decorated hats received a gift. Ellen Harper and Mary Jo LaRue each got a flower. The male winners were Glenn Smith, Jim Heffernan and Elvis Reeder. They each got a candy bar for their unique decorated hats or caps.

Worthy Matron also read "Hats On," which Berlin wrote.

Worthy Patron's closing thought was: "The probability of someone watching you is proportional to the stupidity of your action."

Larry Neville is over the flu. Retta Smith is about the same.

The meeting closed in form.

The May 9 meeting will be initiation. Jim Heffernan had his camera and took some pictures for fun.

Refreshments were provided by Glenn and Retta Smith. Very good sandwiches, chips and dip, cake and drinks were enjoyed. Mothers will be honored at the May 9 meeting.
