Tiger softball splits with Parsons in SEK
PARSONS -- Fort Scott High School's softball team split a Southeast Kansas League doubleheader with Parsons here Tuesday evening. The Tigers won the opener, 9-7, but dropped the second game, 7-6, as the Vikings scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
MacKenzie Jackman and Shelby Maycumber each had 2 hits for the Tigers in the opener. Jackman drove in 3 runs while Maycumber brought in 2. Hannah Tourtillott and Riley Brown each scored twice.
Delane Gray (1-1) allowed 3 earned runs on 11 hits and 2 walks while striking out 2.
In game two, Tourtillott had 2 hits, Maycumber drove in 2 runs and Brown and Jackman each scored twice. Jenna Harper (3-1) allowed 3 earned runs on 5 hits and 4 walks.
The Tigers (3-1 SEK, 4-2 overall) remained in third place in league play. Parsons (3-3, 4-4) climbed into a tie for third with Pittsburg and Chanute.
