JV softball splits with Pittsburg
PITTSBURG -- Fort Scott High School's junior varsity softball team split a doubleheader with Pittsburg here Monday.
The Tigers had an 18-4 victory in one of the games. In that one, they had 18 hits -- 3 each by Abi Keating and Meghan Guss and two each by Tanner Wunderly, Kelsey Simons, Alex Smith and Kyenne Wade. Simons was credited with 4 runs batted in while Smith, Guss, Mirranda Allison, Jessica Milburn and Emily Bowman each drove in 2 runs.
Wade allowed 1 hit and 3 walks while striking out 8. The game was called after 3 innings due to the 15-runs-after-3-innings version of the run rule.
Pittsburg won the other game 11-10 by scoring 3 runs in tbe bottom of the sixth. Smith had 3 hits for Fort Scott while Simons and Wunderly each had 2. Wunderly and Keating each drove in 2 runs.
The Tigers (3-3) will be at home Friday evening for a doubleheader against Coffeyville at Don Hewett Field. Play will begin at 4:30 p.m.
