Uniontown schools to offer screenings for prospective kindergarten students
Uniontown will conduct screenings of prospective kindergarten students from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. April 19-20 at West Bourbon Elementary School, 602 Fifth St., Uniontown.
Youngsters must be at least 5 years old on or before Aug. 31 to participate in the 30-minute screenings, which will be scheduled by appointment, a news release said.
Parents must bring a birth certificate, Social Security number and immunization records. Free physical exams and immunizations will be available for interested students the morning of April 19. Call (620) 756-4335 for additional information, or to schedule screenings.
Vision, hearing, speech and developmental screenings for preschool children will be conducted at WBE the afternoon of April 20. Appointments for youngsters birth to 2 years old can be made by calling Birth to Three Program official Beth Case, (620) 249-2949. Appointments for preschool children 3-5 can be scheduled by calling Jennifer Vaughn at (620) 704-6330.
Parents should be aware that this is not a screening for at-risk preschool for 4-year-olds. Applications for the 4-year-old At-Risk Preschool program are available at the West Bourbon Elementary office.
