Family, fit, fun night set

USD 234 physical education teachers will host the fourth annual "Family, Fit and Fun" event at the Fort Scott High School track on Thursday evening.

The event is open to all families in the district and is free of charge. Grant funds from the Kansas Department of Education's Team Nutrition, Blue Cross/Blue Shield Healthy Habits for Life Grant and the Coordinated School Health made the event possible.

Winfield Scott Elementary physical education teacher Chris Sather said she expects a large crowd.

"We average 500-600 people," Sather said in an email.

Activities will run from 6- 7:30 p.m. and include: ring toss, flying fish, jump ropes, obstacle course, football throw and walk the track. Healthy snacks and wellness booths will also be available. No sign-up or pre-registration is necessary.
