Walk Kansas kicks off with many of the participants in the program gathered Saturday morning at Fort Scott Community College to kick-off the 2012 fitness program. The event featured health screenings, after which participants had a chance to learn Zumba. Justin Allphin, FSCC athletics trainer, encouraged everyone to become more physically active and cited chronic diseases which can be prevented by people staying active and maintaining a healthy weight. More than 300 people are taking part in the Walk Kansas in Bourbon County this year, said Ann Ludlum, extension agent in charge of the local program. The program runs March 18-May 12. Submitted Photo
