MARY JOSEPHINE MICHAEL
Mary Josephine Michael, 93, of Fort Scott died Monday afternoon, March 5, 2012, at home.
She was born Oct. 16, 1918, in Bourbon County, Kan., the daughter of Arthur Harrison "Harry" and Nola Easter (Inman) Pitts.
She married Charles Orlando Michael Sept. 17, 1938, in Fort Scott, Kan. He preceded her in death Sept. 20, 1985.
She is survived by her children; Ernest O. Michael and Mary Ann of Redfield, Kan., Nola Hughes and Jerry of Hume, Mo., Nancy Townsend and Roy of Fort Scott, Margaret Parker and Merle Mayfield of Fort Scott, Rose Lowe of Chanute, Kan., and Charlotte Michael of Nevada, Mo.; two brothers, Kenneth P. "Pete" Pitts of Olathe, Kan., and Calvin L. Pitts of Fort Scott; two sisters, Juanita Schroder, Fort Scott, and Rowena Fray Hines of Columbus, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 14 step-great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Josephine was also preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Edward Lusk, James A. Pitts, John A. Pitts, Harold L. Pitts, David Lusk, and an infant brother, Joseph Eldon Pitts; two sisters, Helen Hood and Grace Buford; and a grandson.
Jeff Michael will conduct funeral services 10 a.m. Friday, March 9, at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home with burial following at the Clarksburg Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, March 8, from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.
