Fort Scott High School recently hosted the Kansas Honors Program to recognize high school students for academic achievement.

From FSHS, the following students were recognized: Kristin Allen, Taylor Cation, Kirk Durnal, Kenzie Heatherly, Bryce Hinde, Alexander Ly, Donald Savage, Mallory Shelton, Baker Weilert, Cameron Woodring and Matthew Wright.

Uniontown High School students included Joshua Beerbower, Drew George, Ashley Nietfeld and Zachary Travis.

In place since 1971, the Kansas Honors Program has recognized 114,000 scholars, who rank in the top 10 percent of their high school senior classes and are selected regardless of occupational plans or higher-education goals. Each year, the KU Alumni Association and its volunteers host 41 programs that reach all 105 counties across the state, according to information from the University of Kansas website.
