Bourbon County Clerk candidate files for office
The first local candidate has filed for office.
Democrat Evelyn Taylor, Garland, has paid the filing fee to become a hopeful for Bourbon County Clerk, an news release said.
Incumbent County Clerk Joanne Long, a Republican, said at Tuesday's Bourbon County Republican Central Committee meeting that she plans to run for reelection, but she has not yet filed.
Register of Deeds Lora Holdridge, County Attorney Terri Johnson and Sheriff Ron Gray also said they plan to run.
Filing deadline for all county offices is noon, Friday, June 1. Offices up for election this year are:
Second District County Commissioner; Third District County Commissioner; County Treasurer; Register of Deeds; County Attorney; Sheriff; all township treasurers and trustees; and Republican and Democratic committeepersons.
