Members of the Bourbon County 4-H Sharp Shooters shooting sports club in Fort Scott held a fundraiser this fall to purchase additional equipment and ammo for the club members again this year.

The club obtained a CZ 455 American 22 bolt action rifle from CZ USA in Kansas City for the kids to raffle. The gun was a $435 retail value. The kids involved in BB gun, air rifle, .22 pistol and .22 rifle sports all helped sell raffle tickets at Walmart, Tractor Supply, Fort Scott Livestock and the Fort Scott Stocking Stuffer Craft Show over a period of nine weeks from October to Dec. 21. The hard work of club members and their parents and instructors helped raise over $1,365 for the club. Tractor Supply also donated hotdogs and buns for the kids to sell to raise additional money.

The kids sold $5 chances on a rifle or three chances for $10. The club members would like to thank everyone who purchased a chance or donated money and to those businesses that allowed the club to sell tickets at their locations. Their support helped buy needed equipment and supplies for the kids to use this year.

The winner of the CZ rifle was L.A. Walley from Amoret, Mo. He purchased his ticket at the Fort Scott Livestock Market. The kids drew the winning name on Dec. 21, and Mr. Walley was presented the rifle on Dec. 23, 2011.

This is the second year that the club has done a fundraiser. Last year, Tractor Supply donated an air rifle from Daisy to raffle right before Christmas, and they raised over $600 with that project.
