EVELYN D. HAYS

Evelyn D. Hays, loving mother, sister and grandmother, died Jan. 7, 2012, after a long illness.

She was born Sept. 3, 1941, to Edward and Margaret Brown.

She resided in Fort Scott, Kan., for 30 years. She was retired from Great West Insurance and Key Industries.

She is preceded in death by her parents. She married Norman Hays in 1958; they later divorced. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include son, Bruce Hays and Becky, Oswego, Kan., and grandchildren Jeremy, Cassie, Ashly, Amber and Abby; daughter, Cindy Hamilton and Dave, Fort Scott, and grandchildren Aaron, Bradley, Bryanna, Ashley and Brad; and son Ryan Hays and Julie, Walnut, Kan., and grandchildren MacKenzie and Rylie.

Also surving are sisters Donna Harris , Hepler, Kan., and Kathy Somers, Kountz, Texas. Many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends will miss her.

At her request, there will be cremation followed by a private family service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church Youth Program or Building Fund and sent to Emmanuel Baptist Church, Sixth and Lowman, Fort Scott, Kan.
