Pawnee 4-H installs officers

November and December continued to be very busy months for Pawnee 4-H Club. On Nov. 4, many club members were in attendance at the 4-H Awards Banquet at the Bourbon County Fairgrounds 4-H building.

The following Pawnee members were awarded county champion pins for their projects: Seth Westbrook, Gabbie Clements, Katie Brown, Kelcie Bailey, Kiran Bailey and Dacey Simpson.

On Nov. 17, Pawnee 4-H Club members enjoyed a Thanksgiving meal together, and each family brought a dish. Following the dinner the club had its annual installation of officers.

The following club members received an office: Michaela Webb, president; Meredith Hill, vice president; Katie Brown, secretary; Abbie Humble, treasurer; Kelcie Bailey, reporter; Riley McDonald, parliamentarian; Dalton Brown and Emma Humble will be song leaders and Lawson Owenby, Seth Westbrook, Caden Webb and Alex Gilmore will be recreation leaders.

On Dec. 13, members met to go Christmas caroling at Fort Scott Manor and Guest Home Estates. After caroling, members had their monthly meeting at the 4-H building. Members answered roll call by saying what they wanted from Santa this year.

November minutes were read and approved and a treasurer's report was given by Abbie Humble. Katie Brown reported that the youth leaders rang the Salvation Army Bell on Dec. 10 at Walmart and then returned to Dacey Simpson's house for a Christmas party and Christmas shirt contest.

Club members voted on dates to meet and practice for 4-H Day events that will take place on Sat., Jan. 28. Carol Hill gave a leader's report and passed out pins to those who were not able to attend the awards banquet. Presentations were given by Abbie Humble on how to make cranberry/cinnamon Chex mix. Humble showed how to make bracelets and Jacob Pemberton did a presentation on how to receive and open a gift with good manners. The meeting ended with a game and snacks.

In attendance were Kelcie Bailey, Hunter Adamson, Kiran Bailey, Brooklyn Lyons, Lauren Lyons and Levi Binn. Club members were accompanied by Angie Binn, performing arts group leader, and Malinda Bailey.

The Pawnee 4-H Club will be meeting again on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 6 p.m. in the 4-H building. Presentations are scheduled for Gabe Buehler, Jencyn Endicott, Gabbie Clements and A.J. Hagerman.
