Dorothy Irene Anderson
Dorothy Irene Anderson, 83, resident of rural Redfield, Kan., died Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at the home of her daughter. She was born March 26, 1928, in Richards, Mo., the daughter of Ernest Goddard and Ruby Hazel Evans Goddard. She graduated from Richards High School. She married Ralph Lee Anderson on Oct. 16, 1949, in Fort Scott. He preceded her in death on May 12, 1997. She worked as a machine operator for Key Work Clothes and later as a file clerk for the Western Insurance Company. Dorothy enjoyed sewing and gardening. She greatly loved spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the Harmony Helping Hands Club. She was a member of the Mt. Orum Baptist Church with 43 years of perfect attendance.
Survivors include a son, Ralph Anderson Jr., Hiattville, Kan.; a daughter, Deanne Bloesser and husband, Don, Redfield, Kan.; and two sisters, Maxine Burnett, Fort Scott, and Joan Cook, Perry, Kan. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Sarah Sisseck and husband, Barry, Seth Bloesser and wife, Melanie, and Silas Bloesser; and five great-grandchildren, Brady and Bolton Sisseck, Madelynn Ard, and Kendyl and Makinlee Bloesser. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Francis, William, Donal, Ernest "Chub" and Joe Goddard; one sister, Belva Goddard; as well as her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 13, at the Mt. Orum Baptist Church south of Redfield. Burial will follow in the Mt. Orum Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., Monday, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Orum Baptist Church and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, P.O. Box 347, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott, KS 66701.
