Eagle girls improve to 2-0 with first-round win
HUMBOLDT -- Hope Jurgensen scored 28 points and grabbed 12 rebounds Tuesday night as Uniontown's girls defeated Humboldt, 52-37, in the first round of a round-robin tournament here.
Lauren Rockhold stepped up to fill in for injured guard Hayden Rathbun and helped the Eagle cause by dishing 9 assists and picking up 4 steals.
Uniontown (2-0) won despite committing 32 turnovers -- they did force the Cubs to turn the ball over 34 times.
"Sometimes, you have to win ugly," Uniontown head coach Ken Holt said. "That's what we did tonight."
Emily Shinn brought down 11 rebounds for Uniontown, which will face Erie tonight and Crest on Friday.
