Hutch handles 'Hounds
HUTCHINSON -- Hutchinson held Fort Scott Community College's men to 28-percent field-goal shooting here Thursday night as the Blue Dragons took an 83-40 victory in the season opener for both teams at the Hutchinson Quarterback Classic.
The Blue Dragons scored 16 of the game's first 18 points and led 30-17 at halftime. Then they scored the first 9 points of the second half.
Hutch held Fort Scott without a field goal during a 27-3 run in the second half that pushed the lead to 74-32.
Teance Walton and Tony McGilveary each scored 10 points for Fort Scott, which made just 13 of 47 field-goal attempts and had just 5 offensive rebounds in the game.
Mark Braden led Hutchinson with 15 points while Rosel Nunn added 14. The Dragons made 51 percent of their field-goal attempts on 32 of 63.
Fort Scott will face Central Florida Community College this afternoon at 3:30. Central Florida lost to Parkland, Ill., 73-70, in Thursday's first game.
