FSCC Forensic Team has good showing
The Greyhound forensics team recently competed in their second tournament of the year at Metropolitan Community College Longview in Kansas City, Mo. This 24-school affair drew schools from Northern Illinois to Southern Texas.
The FSCC team continued to improve and received ten finalist awards over the two-day tournament. Garic Tinsely and Ryan Ramsey, both from Uniontown, partnered up in Duo and made finals both days of the swing. Tinsely was also a finalist both days in an experimental event, forensics criticism, where one aspect of college speech competition is examined and suggestions made to improve it. Ramsey was a finalist in Dramatic Interpretation on the second day of the tournament. Levi Weilert, from Fort Scott, also accomplished back-to-back trophy finishes in Program Oral Interpretation. This event allows student to draw from all areas of literature and put them together to convey a bigger message. The last finalist was Addi Brown, of Fort Scott, who earned an award in Prose.
"We are improving every week. This time out, not only were more team members making it into finals, everyone scored better in every event they competed," FSCC Forensics and Debate coach Brian Weilert said. "The competition was top-notch and the margin for error was just not there. In a couple of their other events, both Levi and Chavez Gaynor (from Fort Scott) scored solid two rankings in both of their prelim rounds and just came up short of making finals."
The Greyhounds will be back in action on December 3 and 4 as they prepare to compete at Cameron University in Texas.
