Soccer, football, church events keep families busy

Betty Hixon, Carol Russell and Katie Johnson traveled to Joplin, Mo., recently and enjoyed shoping and visiting.

Marge and Wayne Stringer hosted a family dinner. All of her brothers and sisters were there. They were Dale and Iris Van Meter and Shirley Powers, Thayer, Kan., Marian and Roy Carson, Chandler, Ariz., Phyllis and Howard Johnson, Bartlesville, Okla., and Wayne and Ruth Van Meter, Parkville, Mo. Others attending were David and Barbara Powers and Garold Powers, Thayer, Kan., Kent Powers, Parsons, Kan., and Jim Stringer, Rogers, Ark.

Dixie Secrest and Dale and Betty Hixon enjoyed eating at Chicken Mary's.

Joe and Shirley White and their daughters, Susan and Ron McBride, Arma, Kan., and Debbie and LeRoy White, Oak Grove, Mo., enjoyed spending five days in Estes Park, Colo., Oct. 6-10.

James Center celebrated his seventh birthday with a party at Pizza Hut. He later enjoyed a family birthday supper at the home of his grandparents, Ron and Linda Center.

Joe and Shirley White have been attending the Fort Scott High School soccer games as their grandson, David Goff, plays for the team.

John and Kim Carpenter opened their home to the youth of Grace Baptist Tabernacle for a youth fellowship after church Sunday night. Before playing a game, they enjoyed chili, chips, dip, soda and desserts.

Ray and Carol Carter, Lenexa, visited with her parents, Carney and Estalee Simpson, over the weekend of Oct. 14-16. They attended the Pittsburg State University homecoming game Saturday and Carol's college alumni reunion that weekend.

Wednesday, Oct. 12, Alicia Craig Hadleigh and Kinleigh spent the day with their great-grandparents, Joe and Shirley White.

Zach Stephan, Billings, Mont., visited with his parents, Dennis and Lisa Stephan, and other family. His brother Dru and Jessica Stephan hosted a family gathering at their home Oct. 16.

On Oct. 11, Kelsie Jo Collins and Ron and Linda Center traveled to Leavenworth, Kan., then back to Kansas City for Linda's doctor's appointment.

Shirley White joined the Prescott ladies Oct. 21 at the home of Patty Coleman, and all enjoyed playing Bunco.

Scott, Kacy and James Center traveled to Warrensburg, Mo., Saturday, Oct. 22, for the Pitt State and Central Missouri State University football game. Scott's nephew, Grant Center, is a student at Central Missouri State. They all enjoyed eating together before returning home.

On Sunday, Oct. 23, Joe and Shirley White visited with their daughter Susan and Ron McBride at their home in Arma. Joining them were Alicia Craig, Hadleigh and Kinleigh.

Scott, Kacy, James and Ronette Center traveled to LaCygne for the Prairie View Buffaloes and Fort Scott Tigers game Friday night. The Tigers won the game 53-0.

The youth department of the Calvary Class of Grace Baptist Tabernacle enjoyed a bowling party Saturday evening, Oct. 22. They traveled to Pittsburg, Kan., and enjoyed bowling and eating together before returning home.

Ron, Linda and Ronette Center attended the wedding of Grant Ness and Lora Wade the evening of Saturday, Oct. 22, in Nevada, Mo. Wade is the son of Ron and Linda's niece, Don and Deanna Ness. The wedding was held at the First Baptist Church and was followed by a dinner reception at the 3M Clubhouse.

The Junior Church of Grace Baptist Tabernacle were treated to a pizza party as a reward for a contest. Sponsors for the group were Brian and Brandy Rhoades, Ron, Linda and Ronette Cener. They all enjoyed pizza, kool-aid and homemade cookies. Brian organized several games for them after they finished eating.

June Hereford, Scott, Kacy, Ronette, Ron and Linda Center attended the last soccer game of the season for James Center Saturday, Oct. 22.
