Old-fashioned boxed dinner auction scheduled

Local singles can find a date while raising money for a local charity when an old-fashioned auction comes to Fort Scott this weekend.

A boxed dinner auction will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Gunn Park's Shelter House No. 6 with all proceeds going to The Beacon, a local food pantry.

Local single women will prepare a dinner and place it in a decorated container or basket. Single men will then bid on the boxes without knowing who the dinner's creator was.

After the bidding has concluded, the men will be united with the dinner's chef and the two will then enjoy a dinner date with the meal that was purchased at the auction.

Following the dinner dates, a dance will be held for all to socialize.
