Police probe bar fight
Fort Scott Police are investigating a fight that took place early Sunday morning at a local restaurant and bar that left one man injured.
About 1:30 a.m. Sunday, police responded to a report of a disturbance at Sharky's Pub and Grub, an eatery located at 16 N. National Ave. Fort Scott Police Department Lt. Travis Shelton said police are looking into a bar fight that occurred at the establishment and that an "investigation is ongoing."
"We're working right now to get questions answered and something submitted to the county attorney if it is warranted," he said. "Right now, it's ongoing."
Shelton said police are currently conducting interviews of witnesses and following other leads as they check into the incident. He said he could not provide additional details and no arrests were indicated in the police report. He said he didn't have an exact number of people who were involved in the altercation. The reporting party was a person present at the scene, he said.
The police report said Curtis Horton, 41, of Fort Scott, was injured in the incident. The report also said the scene was cleared shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday.
Horton was transported to Mercy Health Center, and as of Monday, was listed in stable condition, said Tina Rockhold, regional marketing and communication specialist media relations-Mercy Central Communities.
