Elva Virgie (Kastl) Robinson of Blue Mound, Kan., born May 9, 1918, passed away Sept. 3, 2011.

Elva married her beloved Truman on Sept. 4, 1942 (who passed away Jan. 21, 2001), and was a devoted mother to Dianne, (who passed away Sept. 3, 1968) and to Richard (Rick).

Elva graduated from Blue Mound High School in 1936 and also graduated from Parsons Business College. She then worked a number of years at the Linn County Treasurer's Office before becoming a full-time mother and farm wife.

Elva was active in the community and belonged to the Women's Advance Club and Jolly Sewing Circle. Her activity stretched beyond these clubs as she became president of the Kansas Federation of Women's Clubs and was active in the Past Presidents Association after her term.

Elva loved her bridge playing and enjoyed association with many area bridge players. She also enjoyed watching the birds that showed up on her bird feeders every morning. Throughout her life, Elva was a caring and giving person to her family and friends alike.

Elva is survived by her son Rick and her much-loved daughter-in-law Charlene of Tulsa, Okla., grandsons Brandon and Brenton of Tulsa, great-grandson Brenton and great-granddaughter Brooklyn.

Elva is also survived by her brother Sherman. Brothers Eldon, Melvin, Calvin and Max and sister Reitha have passed on before their older sister.

Elva was very close to her nieces and nephews. She was especially close with her sister Reitha's daughter, Mona Sadler, who was like a second daughter to her.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at the Blue Mound Federated Church.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7 at the Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home, Mound City, Kan.

Burial will be in the Sonny Slope Cemetery in Blue Mound.
