Back-to-back State champs

Fort Scott's 10-year-old Cal Ripken baseball team won the Kansas State Tournament at Oswego this past weekend. This group also won the 9-year-old State Tournament last year. Team members are (from left): FRONT -- Graham Hathaway, Carter Goldston, Treyton Wilson, Nick Deloney, Ty Gorman and Jeffrey Doherty; MIDDLE -- Mason Couch, Daniel Eichenberger, Kieran Houlihan, Matt Campbell and Chandler Defebaugh; BACK -- Coach Jason Gorman, Head Coach William Hathaway and Coach Bob Campbell. The team advances to the Cal Ripken Regional at Kalona, Iowa, which begins July 27. The scores of the games along with summary of player awards was published in Wednesday's edition and is still available online here.
