Starlite members receive decorating tips

Friday, June 24, 2011

The June Starlite F.C.E. meeting was held at the home of Marge Stringer. The program was on home decorating presented by Marsha Hudson of Ruddick's Furniture.

The eight members present were given many hints and suggestions from selecting floor coverings to wall paint. Color on accent walls and plants are ways to bring warmth into a room. Area rugs are very popular. But the main rule is "do what you like." Marge Stringer presented Hudson with a gift basket after the presentation.

A short business meeting was held. There were 18 volunteer hours reported. Betty Johnson delivered cookies and lemonade to blitz workers, and the remaining cookies were taken to the Chamber Visitor's Center.

Starlite F.C.E. always helps with the Bourbon County Fair Open Class Exhibits in the Myers Building. Members assist with the registering of baked goods and craft items, also with the judging and bake sale. The fair will be the last week in July.

The next meeting will be Aug. 18 at the home of Nolene Whiteside. The program, "Scraps to Treasurers" will be presented by Clarice Russell. Members were asked to bring items made from scraps such as quilts made from fabric scraps. Meeting adjourned.
