Concert series starts Friday
The weekly summer concert series, sponsored by the Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce Downtown Division, will begin at 7 p.m. Friday at the Heritage Park Pavilion near the corner of First and Main streets with performances by several area musicians and other entertainment.
Prior to the musical performances, C.J. Clown will be present to make animal characters with balloons to entertain children in attendance.
The concert will include performances by Fuss and Feathers, a local musical duo consisting of event organizer Ralph Carlson and James "Red" Stradley; the Santana family, owners of La Hacienda Restaurant; David Prickett, a musican from Deerfield, Mo.; and local musicians Floyd Feezell and John Bennett.
"We are pleased with the prospects for this summer," Carlson said. "We have lots of talent lined up."
The Santanas will perform Mexican folk tunes. Prickett plays guitar and sings old standards and gospel music. Bennett will play classical guitar arrangements. Feezell plans to sing old standards and gospel songs. Carlson said those interested in attending should bring lawn chairs as seating is not provided at the event.
The show is free and open to the public.
