Rosella Fern Vann
Rosella Fern Vann, age 80, a former resident of Fort Scott, and more recently of Springfield, Mo., died Friday, April 22, 2011, at the Springfield Rehabilitation and Health Care in Springfield.
She was born Sept. 23, 1930, in Paola, Kan., the daughter of Vernon Jenkins and Laura Graham Jenkins. She married Lloyd O. Vann on Sept. 23, 1953, at Fort Scott. He preceded her in death on June 21, 2008.
Mrs. Vann had worked as a ward clerk for Mercy Hospital for many years. She was a member of the Mt. Olive Church of God in Christ and while in Springfield had been attending the Covenant of Grace Church. She was also a member of the Athenium Study Club. She had volunteered her time for The Beacon and had served on The Beacon board of directors.
Survivors include three daughters, Cindy Vann-Green and husband, Calvin, Fort Scott, Agnes Walton and husband, Tray, Springfield, and Joy Vann-Hamilton, and husband, Willis, Lee's Summit, Mo. Also surviving are a brother, Waymon Jenkins, Berkeley, Calif.; two sisters, Lorene Vick, Stillwater, Okla. and Joann Webster, Tulsa, Okla.; and five grandchildren, Abner, Elijah, Willis Jr., and Veronica Hamilton and Tray Walton Jr. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Vernon Jenkins Jr.
Elder Pete Pulliam, Elder J. T. Owens and Pastor Tray Walton will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2011, at the Mt. Olive Church of God in Christ. Burial will follow in the West Plains Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
