A great day for soup

Local residents enjoy a bowl of soup during Thursday's Beacon Soup Line at the Scottish Rite Temple. The event was hosted by the Young Professionals League with proceeds going to help The Beacon, a local food pantry and community assistance agency. Organizers said there was not an empty seat during the lunch hour and that they had served more than 350 patrons by 1:30 p.m., about double the amount of the same time frame last year.(Michael Pommier/Tribune)
