CHETOPA, Kan. -- Uniontown's girls concluded regular-season play by beating Chetopa, 56-38, in a Three Rivers League make-up game here Thursday night.

Chetopa's boys defeated Uniontown, 51-46. No other information was provided about the game.

Both Uniontown teams begin Kansas Class 3A Sub-State Tournament play Tuesday night with a doubleheader at Kansas City Christian in Prairie Village as, by coincidence, both the girls' and boys' teams happened to be seeded against each other. Uniontown girls (5-3 TRL, 10-10 overall) are the No. 5 seed in the tournament while KCC (9-10) is No. 4.

Eagle boys (1-7, 5-15) are seeded sixth while the Panthers (11-8) are the third seed. The doubleheader tips off at 6 p.m. with the girls playing first.

In Thursday night's game, the Eagles pulled away by outscoring the Green Hornets (1-7, 3-17) 21-5 in the third quarter. That made Uniontown's lead 36-23 going into the final stanza.

"We got off to a slow start," Uniontown head coach Ken Holt said. "But we played well in the second and third quarters. I think all of these games recently (six in 10 days) were taking a toll."

Brooke Harper led the Eagles with 13 points as she connected on 5 of 8 field-goal attempts, including three 3-pointers.

"Brooke gave us a boost in the third when she got all 13 of her points in about a five-minute span," Holt said.

Hayden Rathbun added 12 points for Uniontown. Hope Jurgensen in rebounding with 9 boards. Lauren Rockhold dished 3 of the Eagles' 14 assists. Tayler Shook had 3 of their 12 steals.
