Madison named to top post at chamber
Lindsay Madison, current chairwoman of the board of the Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce, has been officially named executive director of the chamber by its board of directors.
Madison has been voluntarily directing the efforts of the chamber since the position was vacated in September. She replaces former president and chief executive officer Vicki Pritchett.
According to Becky Tourtillott, incoming board chairwoman for 2011, several applicants expressed interest in the position.
"Our search committee interviewed some truly wonderful candidates," Tourtillott said in a statement. "Lindsay brings a combination of business and accounting experience and marketing skills that we believe will be extremely beneficial in helping the chamber grow and be a valuable resource for our members and the community."
Tourtillott said in an e-mail that Madison, along with the chamber board of directors, "is committed to making the chamber a valuable resource for our members, as well as assisting in the vital economic development efforts in our community."
Madison is a lifelong Fort Scott resident.
She attended Fort Scott schools before graduating from Kansas State University with a degree in business administration. She served as manager of Global Source Link, a subsidiary of Ward Kraft Inc., and then transitioned to director of new owner development for Proforma, the corporation that acquired Global Source Link, the chamber's statement said.
Madison will begin her new role immediately, concentrating on membership development and retention and community economic development efforts, the statement said.
Madison was named interim executive director by the board at its regular meeting about a month ago.
At that time, the board appointed a hiring committee to begin interviewing potential candidates for the executive director's position.
