Lee Roy "Bud" Wright, 67, of rural Arma, died at 11:20 p.m., Monday, Oct. 18, 2010 at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo.

Mr. Wright was born March 13, 1943 at Fort Scott, Kan., the son of John and Thelma Pyle Wright.

Lee was retired from the Shawnee Indian Mission State Historic Society in Fairway, Kan., where he was director. He also had worked in the oil fields in Western Kansas.

He was raised in Garland, Kan., and graduated from Arcadia High School.

He married Patricia Smith on Feb. 18, 1965, at Arcadia, Kan. Mrs. Wright survives of the home.

Mr. Wright sreved in the United States Marine Corps from 1961 to 1965.

He was a member of the Lon Helm Post No. 182 American Legion at Arma, served as Scout Master for Troop No. 192, and was active as a softball coach and other activities of his children.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia, of the home; three daughters, Robin Wright of Olathe; Sheila Williams and her husband Brad of Lawrence; and Samantha Wright of Olathe; one son, Craig Wright and his wife Laura of Wellsville, Kan.; five sisters, Jo Ann Johnson and her husband Harold of Edwards, Mo.; Jane Fisher and her husband Larry of Nevada, Mo.; Faye Phillips of Tulsa, Okla., Jonna Page and her husband Tom of Mt. Home, Idaho; and Rosemary Sherman and her husband Keith of Chanute, Kan.; one brother, Fred Wright and his wife Eloise of Fort Scott; Kan., and nine grandchildren, Laura Brooke, Miranda Shay, Tanner Scott, Allison Lee, Mathew Tyler, Rayne Taylor, Spencer Lee, Braden Kordel and Trenton Lee.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010 at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma, with Father Brian Nelson, Ronnie Smith Jr., and Pastor Dale Cummins officiating.

Burial will be at the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Friday at the Bedene Chapel at Arma.

The USMC Burial Detail will conduct graveside services.
