EVA ISABELL ATHERTON
Eva Isabell Atherton, 88, of Pleasanton, Kan., died Friday, Oct. 15, 2010 at Mercy Health Center, Fort Scott, Kan.
She was born Dec. 6, 1921 in Mapleton, Kan., the daughter of Arthur and Belle Post Plain.
She was a graduate of Fulton High School
She married Otto Atherton on Jan. 2, 1941. He preceded her on April 5, 1988.
She was a seamstress and a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union AFL/CIO No. 565.
She was preceded in death also by her parents; two brothers, Raymond and Leo Plain, one sister, Marie Jent and a great-grandson, Charles Sheppard.
Survivors include a son; Otto Atherton and Edna of Pleasanton, Kan.; one brother, Jack Plain and Pauline; a brother-in-law, Winfred Jent, a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Plain, grandchildren; Lisa and Guy Wakefield, David and Kristin Atherton, Heather Atherton, Courtney and Brendon Russell and Micah and KC Atherton; eight great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 18, 2010 at the Mapleton Cemetery, Mapleton, Kan.
Visitation was held from 4-6 p.m., Sunday at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Pleasanton, Kan.
