Leonard E. Lucke, 81, of rural Girard, Kansas, died at 2:43 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010 in the Girard Medical Center.

He was born October 9, 1929 at rural Girard, a son of Elmer Frederick and Linda Mary (Kroenke) Lucke.

He attended Immanuel Lutheran Grade School, Hepler and Girard High Schools

He married Ruby Joyce Lockwood on May 9, 1954 at Fort Scott, Kansas.

She preceded him in death on November 21, 2008.

He was a lifelong farmer at rural Girard.

He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church at rural Hepler and the Brazilton Ruritan Club.

Survivors are a son, Greg Lucke and Doris of Kansas City, Kansas and a daughter, Karen Starks and Garry of Wright, Wyoming; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Rosalie Wedell of Girard; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn R. Lucke, on April 23, 2002.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church at rural Hepler with Pastor Steven Sweyko officiating.

Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at rural Hepler. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard.

Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund and these may be left at the church or the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W St. John, Box 258, Girard, 66743.
