KSEK announces hoop slate

Wednesday, October 6, 2010

KSEK-FM Radio (99.1) will broadcast selected Fort Scott Community College men's and women's basketball games during the 2010-11 season.

A total of 11 conference doubleheaders -- including all nine played at Arnold Arena -- will be broadcast this season.

Road doubleheaders at Labette and Neosho County are also included on the broadcast schedule.

KSEK-FM is in its first season of broadcasting FSCC Greyhound athletics. Matt Newbery will call all of the action, with coverage beginning 15 minutes prior to the scheduled tip-off of the first game of each doubleheader.

KSEK's broadcasts can also be heard on its website, www.991espn.com.

The season's opening broadcast will be Dec. 4, when Johnson County invades Arnold for the only conference home doubleheader before the holiday break. The schedule resumes Jan. 5 when the Greyhounds go to Labette.

The Greyhound women are under the direction of second-year head coach Diana Couch. She led Fort Scott to a 14-18 record and a berth in the Region VI quarterfinals in her first season.

Michael Cook is entering his fourth season as the men's coach at FSCC. The Greyhounds will be trying to improve on the 4-27 record posted during the 2009-10 campaign under the guidance of the former Pittsburg State guard.

Besides its football and basketball efforts, KSEK also plans to broadcast select baseball and softball games in the 2011 season.
