National Drug Takeback Day is this Saturday

Monday, September 20, 2010

TOPEKA -- Kansas Attorney General Steve Six and the Drug Enforcement Agency will be hosting National Drug Takeback Day on Saturday, September 25 at locations across Kansas. The event will last from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm.

Kansans with expired, unused, or unwanted prescription drugs are encouraged to take them to one of 29 locations across the state. These drugs present a danger for misuse and abuse. In addition, improper disposal of these drugs -- such as flushing them down the toilet or throwing them away -- can present potential safety and public health hazards.

Nearby collection sites will be held at the Pittsburg Police Department and the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office locations in Columbus, Baxter Springs, and Galena. A complete list of collection sites and additional information can be found at www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/takeback/
