Gospel Showcase returns to Old Settlers Picnic in Uniontown
For the past four years, a part of the Uniontown Old Settlers Picnic has featured an evening in the City Park with visiting talent presenting a evening gospel program. The Committee has always promoted a morning combined worship service in the park but the Gospel Sing or Showcase has been an additional opportunity for anyone to join in the enjoyment of gospel music.
This year the committee decided not to go too far in search of gospel artists to share their vocal and instrumental talent. We are blessed with an abundance of talent already present in the area or musicians who have roots in the Uniontown area. So the public is invited to a "Showcase" this year which will be a variety of gospel offerings.
Among those performing will be the Bruner/Brewer clan (vocal and instrumental), Becky Shinn and Kathy George (vocal duet), John O'Dell on the harmonica, Rachel Epp Bradbury and Deanna Epp Biles (instrumental solos and duet), Nick O'Dell (vocal and guitar), Ronnie (Veronica) Harrison (vocal), Kaitlin Spainhoward (vocal with guitar and accapella, and Karen Demm (vocal solo). We may have some late comers to add to the evening program, too.
So bring a comfortable lawn chair unless you prefer bleacher seats and witness the gospel message in a variety of offerings.
In case of rain, the 7 p.m. program will be moved to the First Missionary Baptist Church on the northeast corner of the Uniontown square.
