Business e-mail seminar upcoming

Wednesday, August 25, 2010

An upcoming seminar is designed to teach local business owners more about the concept of e-mail marketing.

The event, titled "Rev Up Your Customer Relationships, Referrals and Revenues with E-mail Marketing," is sponsored by the Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce and scheduled to take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, in the training room at Citizens Bank, 200 S. Main St.

The workshop should teach attendees how to "communicate effectively via e-mail," and use e-mail as a tool for marketing -- a method of marketing that is becoming more and more frequently used, FSACC President and CEO Vicki Pritchett said.

"It's close to becoming a tool for direct mail marketing," she said.

The event is aimed at business owners who are looking for a way to market on a shoestring budget, who are finding it hard to get results with their current marketing, who are spending a lot of money on marketing but not getting any returns, who are looking for a way to educate, thank, remind and connect better with their customers, and who want to beef up their referrals and revenues, according to a news release.

The presenter of the program is Paige Cahill, who works for Constant Contact, Inc., as the regional development director for Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska. Constant Contact is an e-mail marketing, online survey and event marketingbusiness headquartered in Massachusetts. Prior to working for the company, Cahill successfully launched her own marketing firm that implemented marketing strategies to help small business owners get results and grow their business.

In her position with Constant Contact, Cahill uses her entrepreneurial, marketing, sales, training and technology background to teach small businesses and organizations how the power of e-mail marketing can be affordable and easy, according to the press release.

Attendees will learn what e-mail marketing "is" and "is not," why businesses are using e-mail marketing today, the "do's and don'ts" of e-mail marketing, the best e-mail practices to help create successful e-mail campaigns, how e-mail marketing can teach them what their customers really want, and how e-mail can go social.

The cost to attend the event is $10 per person and includes a box lunch. Reservations are due by Sept. 9 and can be made by contacting the chamber at (620) 223-3566, or by e-mail at chamberoffice@fortscott.com.
