Elmer Robert Miller, 83, of Hiattville, Kan., died at his home, Thursday morning, Aug. 5, 2010.

He was born July 11, 1927 in Croweburg, Kan., the son of Elmer Marion and Mamie Pearl (Edwards) Miller.

He married Mabel L. Ater on July 11, 1946 in Fort Scott, Kan. She survives of the home.

He was a member of the Hiattville United Methodist Church and served as Church Treasurer and Chairman of Administrative Board, a member of Bourbon County Natural Resources Soil Conservation, and S.C.S., FSA Board, and USD 235 Board of Education.

In addition to his wife, Mabel, Elmer is survived by his children, Robert A. "Bob" and Glenda R. (Smith) Miller of Hiattville, Kan., Sandra D. (Miller) and Carl K. Ellis of Salina, Kan.; and Roger R. and Laura "Lori" (Cleavenger) Miller, also of Hiattville; a sister, Ruby Harper of Fort Scott; a brother, Herbert and Vangie Miller of Rush Springs, Okla.; a sister-in-law, Beverly George of Fort Scott; ten grandchildren, Anthony and Jennifer (Miller) Kelly, Jason and Heather (Miller) Meisenheimer, Dustin and Carrie Miller, Ryan and Tommie Miller, Mark Ellis and Nikki Hannon, Jake Ellis, Whitney (Snyder) Sealey, Ryan Snyder, Logan and Megan Miller, Alexandrea "Alex" Miller; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Delbert George, and a sister, Viola Calderone.

Following cremation, Rev. Dallas Peterson and Dr. Carl K. Ellis will conduct memorial services 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 9, 2010 at the Hiattville United Methodist Church with services under the direction of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 a.m., prior to services, and also Sunday evening Aug. 8, 2010, 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hiattville United Methodist Church, The Sharing Bucket, or the American Heart Association, and left in the care of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W. Wall St., P.O. Box 309, Fort Scott, KS 66701.
