Nevada, Mo. -- The Vernon County Historical Society will present a twin bill program called "Guns and Roses" at the quarterly meeting Sunday, July 11, at the Bushwhacker Museum.

Ginny Nash, co-owner of Stone House Perennials south of Nevada, and antiques collector Tom Gladden of El Dorado Springs, are set to talk about their specialties. The meeting starts at 2 p.m.

Nash runs the garden center on a five-acre plot she and husband Charles Nash have owned for several years south of the Bethel Church off BB Highway.

Currently, the plant inventory at Stone House numbers about 4,000. Nash, a New York native, had a garden as a child and became involved in scientific literature about medicinal plants while in graduate school. Her interest in restoring old houses led to the purchase of the five-acre property and ultimate founding of Stone House Perennials. Nash is a former nursing home administrator and real estate sales executive in Nevada. Her presentation will center on the use of plants in healing.

Gladden grew up in the St. Louis area and has a lifetime interest in collecting antiques.

His talk focus on his private museum of exceptional weaponry including guns and Indian artifacts. He plans to bring several historical items for display.
