AHS Our Gang meeting, Mexican meal June 26

Patty and Lee Wright would like to remind Our Gang Members of AHS that at the June 26 meeting they will be serving Mexican style dinner. If you desire something different, just bring your choice. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. in Arcadia Community Center.

Mark and Janet Vanleeuwen of St. Paul, Kan., took her parents John and Vera Parrish to Branson for a fun-filled first weekend in June. The following weekend, The Elliott Reunion was held at the Farlington Lake. Over 40 attended and enjoyed the breakfasts cooked by Wayne Parrish each morning. Among others attending were his wife, Christie, John and Vera Parrish, Jenny, Ryan, Allyson, Kadin and Karter Dugan. Another weekend, Christie, with her mother, Mildred Nicoletti, of Arma, traveled to Topeka to attend the wedding of Christie's nephew.

Folks are reminded to mark their calendars for fun in Arcadia downtown on July 3. At 2 p.m., there will be games and races downtown and in the parks with dinner at 5:30 in Community Center and a talent show at 7 p.m. Fireworks will be enjoyed at dark. This is sponsored by the Oskaloosa (Mo.) Freewill Baptist Church.

Bill and Karen Watt have recently moved from their home in Independence, Mo., to a nearby home in Napoleon, Mo. He and his brothers spent Friday and Saturday before Father's Day in the home of their mother, Mae Watt, rural Arcadia. Among the many things Bill, Delton Jr., Tom and Allen do for her, this trip, they removed the dead tree stump from the front yard. The bird feeders are now filled to the delight of the birds. Three of the men left on Saturday while Tom waited until Sunday morning to head for Oklahoma City to attend a business dinner meeting that evening. On Monday, he entered a golf tournament before heading for home in Lees Smmitt.

Jeana and Desi Kotzman, Arcadia, have announced the birth of a son, Drew Charles, June 8, 2010, at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg. The baby was welomed by a brother, Drake Christopher. Paternal Grandparents are Lea and Don Schaub, Arcadia and the late Robert Kotzman, Frontenac. Maternal grandparents are John and Debbie Schaub, Arcadia. Great-grandparents are Joe and Betty Youvan, Arma, the late June and Elvis Jones, Beulah and the late Bud and Virginia Schaub, Arcadia.

Father's Day was very special in the Arcadia Christain Church when the Pastor's daughter, Cherri Walrod, was guest speaker. With her came her family. Her husband, Paul Walrod, played and sang a special dedicated to Fathers. Children were Loryn, Landon, and Jamison who attended the services while the younger ones, Jintry, Simon and Sami B., all from Eudora, Kan., were entertained in the Bungalow. Their great-grandmother, Mable Taiclet, Fort Scott, was a special guest. Stuart Semple, led the singing including "Faith Of Our Fathers." Pastor's wife, Willa Cable, was in charge of gift giving to each man in the audience.

Tim and Cindy Davis and Brad and Robin Hartman, all of Fort Scott, announce the engagement of their children, Heather Davis and Grant Hartman. Grant is the grandson of Ron and Karen Billard, Fort Scott and Ed and Pauline Hartman, Uniontown. Ron and Karen Billard are former members of the JOY Sunday School Class in Arcadia Christian Church. Ron is the grandson of the late Rollie and Hattie Scott. Rollie was a former Frisco Depot Agent in Arcadia for many years during the 1930's.

Jodie and Galen Dunn have returned to the USA this month from the Philippine Islands. On June 18, they spoke at Chariots of Fire investors meeting in Oklahoma. The Open Door Mission in Arcadia is one of the places they will be speaking this summer. Watch for the date.

Delton Watt Jr reported that he attended the Vietnam Veterans 40th Reunion in Cincinnati, Ohio. He spent several days there visiting and playing golf with about 60 other guests.

June 17, Michael and Chrisi Shead returned to their homes in Grand Rapids, Mich., after sponsoring a mission trip to Gautamala where they took 15 young people from their church who helped clean out a school building. Michael is a photography teacher and Chrisi is a registered nurse.
