GISELA NUTTER
Gisela Nutter, age 83, former resident of the Highrise Apartments, Fort Scott, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at Guest Home Estates.
She was born March 21, 1927, the daughter of Harro Stuhrk and Margarete Schmitt Stuhrk, in Marne, Germany.
In her teen years, she was a successful swimmer and tennis player, competing on several traveling teams.
She married William Lee Nutter in 1952 in Germany. He preceded her in death on June 21, 1996.
After moving to the United States, Gisela worked for Key Industries in Fort Scott for 33 years.
While her husband was living, they greatly enjoyed operating their ham radio equipment, often conversing with friends back in Germany.
Gisela was the last surviving member of her family, but leaves her special friend and caregiver, Elton Cox.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister and her parents.
V. F. W. Chaplain James R. Stradley will conduct graveside services for Gisela Nutter at 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 18, in the Fort Scott National Cemetery.
